Andrew proposed during a surprise trip to Las Vegas to celebrate Valentine’s Day and Samantha’s birthday. He took her on a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon and asked for her hand when they landed for a champagne brunch.
The ceremony is planned for May 19, 2014, at Club Los Meganos in Brentwood.
The bride-to-be, daughter of Kurt and Melanie Phelps of Tracy, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human biology this spring from University of California, Merced. Samantha graduated from Tracy High in 2009.
Her grandparents are Rick and Roberta Pinto of Tracy, Jerry and Suda Smith of Clear Lake and the late Gary Phelps. Her siblings, Lindsey and Justin Phelps, both live in Tracy.
The groom-to-be is the son of Michele Glover Hill, and her husband, Mark Hill, of Tracy and the late Andrew Scott Glover. Andrew, also a 2009 graduate of Tracy High, earned associate degrees in social and behavioral sciences and criminal justice from San Joaquin Delta College in 2011 and received his peace officer standard and training at Alameda County Sheriff’s Academy. He works as a Stanislaus County deputy sheriff.
He is the grandson of John and Sue Reedy and great-grandson of Ruth Behr, all of Oakdale. He has two siblings, Kristin Silva and Matthew Glover, and a stepbrother, Jacob Hill of Patterson.
