Abby, a 3-year-old calico, adores people and loves to be petted. An indoor-only cat, she likes to look out and see what’s happening outside. She does not like other cats and dogs and should be the only pet in the household. Animal Rescue of Tracy is opening from 4 to 9 p.m. today for a special Feline Friday session in the Macy’s wing of the West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road. The adoption fee for Abby and other cats 6 months and older is $35, and kittens can be adopted for $95. The nonprofit, all-volunteer rescue group also has regular pet adoption fairs for dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays. For information: 642-4324 or

Talia, almost 4 months old, is an animated, happy Chihuahua mix puppy and enjoys playing with other animals. She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed and vaccinated. Talia will be part of a Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days event May 31 and June 1 at Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton, when rescued animals can be adopted free of charge, unless she is adopted sooner. Anyone interested in Talia can request an application by contacting Sheri Savage at or 925-980-3035. East of Eden is a nonprofit animal rescue organization. Its volunteers are at Petco, 2888 Grant Line Road, from noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays. For information, call 815-5186 or visit

Gabby, a 6-year-old female Chihuahua mix, is at the Tracy Animal Shelter and needs a home. The shelter, 370 Arbor Road, is open from noon to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For information: 831-6364 or “City of Tracy Animal Services” on Facebook.
