A 30-year-old Tracy man was killed when his motorcycle collided head-on with a 2006 Dodge truck on Thursday, Aug. 1.

The motorcyclist was traveling north on Chrisman Road around 7:25 a.m. when the truck, which was driving south, allegedly turned in front of the 2007 Suzuki Boulevard bike, according to Adam Shelton, spokesman for the California Highway Patrol office in Tracy.

The crash occurred in front of the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Joaquin just east of Tracy city limits.

“The truck turned into the path of the motorcycle,” Shelton said. “The motorcyclist hit the grill of the pickup head-on and veered off, hitting the concrete barrier nearby.”

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, Shelton said.

Mike Kozma, 49, of Tracy, was driving the truck, and was not injured in the crash, Shelton said.

The accident is still under investigation, but Shelton said investigators believe that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

No charges were filed against Kozma as of Thursday afternoon.

The name of the motorcyclist won’t be released until family members are notified.

The man killed was my neighbor: a good man, a great husband to his wife, and will be sorely missed.
