MH gymnast qualifies for USA National team

A Mountain House boy was one of the young gymnasts selected for the USA Gymnastics National Development Team after finished among the top-six gymnasts in the 8-year-old division at the USA Gymnastics Region 1 Future Stars Championships.

Colin Flores, 7, and his twin brother Tyler were part of the Classic Gymnastics team that competed in the event, held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29 and 30, in at the Grand Sierra Hotel Resort and Convention Center in Reno.

Colin was sixth place and Tyler just missed the cut with a seventh place finish.

Classic Gymnastics was well-represented in the finals with eight gymnasts, more than any other club in the region.

Other members of the team that traveled to Reno were Matthew Garay, 11, Jaycob Beasley, 8, Anthony Blake, 7, Mark Davis, 7, and Branden Dao, 6, all from Tracy, and Aled De La Cruz, 8, of Mountain House.

These gymnasts now prepare for regular competition season in January which includes the Gold Country Classic, hosted by Classic Gymnastics, Feb. 8 to 10 at the Oakland Marriott Convention Center.
