Services were conducted this week for Laura Effie McMahan, 87, a former preschool teacher in Tracy, who died Friday, June 21, at her home in Elk Grove.

Mrs. McMahan was born in San Diego on Dec. 13, 1925, and moved to Tracy with her family in 1970. She taught preschoolers at KinderCare and Tracy Community Church and in Stockton for several years.

Following her husband’s death, she moved to Elk Grove to live with her daughter.

Survivors include three children, Ronald McMahan, and his wife, Peggy, Antoinette Hill, and her husband, Darren, and Robert McMahan, and his wife, Terri; a former daughter-in-law, Sheri McMahan; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Doc Powell; and two sisters, Margaret Lillard and Leamorah Kloster.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Harvey Lee McMahan; and a son, Richard McMahan.

Burial was in San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine. North Sacramento Funeral Home handled arrangements, and a guest book can be signed at
