The Millennium High football team was plagued by turnovers but came through with a late fourth-quarter drive for a 7-6 win Saturday, Sept. 7, at Johnson High in Sacramento.

Millennium (1-1) collected 271 yards on offense, but penalties and four fumbles prevented the Falcons from reaching the end zone until the fourth quarter.

Junior Izaiah Williams — Millennium’s rushing leader with 83 yards on 14 carries — ran the ball in from the 2-yard line with about three minutes left, and Malik Charles, also a junior, made the kick to put Millennium up 7-0.

Johnson (0-1) scored with about a minute left, but the Falcons shut down the 2-point conversion attempt.

The Falcons’ defensive leader was junior Carlos Martinez, who made 12 tackles.
