Michaela J. Loomis, daughter of Michele and Tom Loomis, of Tracy, has completed Cadet Basic Training at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

The 2013 Kimball High School graduate entered West Point on July 1.

Upon completion of training, her company was awarded the honor of carrying a banner with the motto chosen

by the class: “So others may dream, Class of 2017.”

Loomis’ summer instruction included topics such as first aid, mountaineering, marksmanship and nuclear, biological and chemical training.

She began fall classes at West Point on Aug. 19 and will swim for the Black Knights.

Loomis expects to graduate from West Point in 2017 and be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
