Kimball High’s girls basketball team leads the local all-league selections with two of the top choices for the Valley Oak League.

Third-year varsity player Allison Schmidt, starting guard for the Jaguars for all three years, is the VOL’s most valuable player for the 2013-14 season.

Schmidt led the Jaguars to a 25-4 season, including a 13-1 Valley Oak League record and the school’s first-ever varsity basketball league title. She scored a team-high 306 points over 27 regular season games, sinking 36 percent of her shots. She hit a team-high 35 3-point shots in 101 attempts.

Also topping the all-VOL list is Kimball girls coach Mike Granillo.

Granillo is in his fourth year of coaching the Kimball varsity girls. He started in the 2010-11 season, when the team went 1-26 and 1-13 in the VOL, and the team has progressed each year, making trips to the playoffs in every year since.
