In Service: Former Tracy resident now Marine aviator, WHS grad finishes basic training

Local Marine earns his wings

U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Gregg Borman, a former Tracy resident, completed training as a naval aviator and received his Wings of Gold on Nov. 15.

Borman also won the Top Hook Award for his class with flawless landing grades and a 100 percent carrier boarding rate.

He will report to Oceana Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach, Va., to be trained in flying F/18D aircraft.

Borman graduated from West High School’s Space & Engineering program in 2005 and from San Jose State University in 2009, earning a bachelor’s degree in aviation management. He received his commission as a second lieutenant in the Marines in July 2010.

WHS grad completes basic training

Airman 1st Class Jordan Campos-Juarez, a West High School alumna, graduated Nov. 22 from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.

Her studies included Air Force values, fitness, military discipline and warfare skills and principles.

She is completing technical training in security forces.

Campos-Juarez, the daughter of Ana Lisa Campos and Brian Juarez of Tracy, graduated from West High on June 1.
