The Mountain House Hurricanes hosted their first home game on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Questa School as the Gustine Redskins came to town.
No score is kept for the junior novice teams. Noa Kahoonei completed a 24-yard touchdown pass to Justice Chase and a 40-yard touchdown pass to Morgan Andrade. Andrade also reached the end zone on a 34-yard run.
The Hurricanes’ novice team (1-1) beat the Redskins 39-20. Quarterback Timothy Cantu scored four touchdowns and Rudy Rosales scored two touchdowns. Top defenders included Daniel Spencer and Keanu Estrella-Trujillo.
The junior varsity team (0-2) lost 32-0. Offensive highlights included a 40-yard run for Tahjae Jack, and Bisesh Ghimere and Rakhil Prasad stepped up on defense.
The Tracy Junior Bulldogs hosted the North Stockton Bengals on Saturday, Aug. 25, at West High’s Steve Lopez Stadium.
No score is kept at the junior novice level. The Bulldog team logged 457 yards of offense and touchdowns for Noah Deneau and Kevin Chavolla, who each reached the end zone twice, and for D.J. Jones and Eric Gordon Jr.
The Bengals won the novice game 12-6, to put the Bulldog novice team at 1-1. Bradley Maddox scored the Bulldogs’ only touchdown as he carried the ball 26 times for 170 yards. Defenders Logan Fife, Nolan Willis, Jordan Matson, Eli Blackwell and Dominic Balcaceres all forced turnovers.
The junior varsity Bulldogs (2-0) shut out the Bengals 37-0. Jacob Peebles and Kristien Reyes both ran in touchdowns, Josh Wallwork threw touchdown passes to Josh Alvarado and Drew Tavares, and Tavares also scored when he picked up a Bengal fumble and ran it back for a touchdown.
The Bengals won the varsity game 34-14, to put the Bulldogs at 0-2.
The Tracy Buccaneers hosted the Junior Kings of Stockton on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Kimball High’s Don Nicholson Stadium.
The Buccaneer starts team (3-0) beat the Kings 12-6. Cody Lammerts and Nicholas Coronado scored the Buccs’ touchdowns, and Tyson Dawson ran the ball for 154 yards and was also the leading defender with seven tackles.
The rookie Buccs (2-1) shut out the Kings 19-0. Trevor Pope led the way on offense with 87 yards rushing, including a touchdown run, and he also scored a touchdown on a punt return.
The Kings won the junior varsity game 12-0, which puts the Buccs at 1-2. Leading rusher for the Buccs was Aidan Quinn with 42 yards, and leading defenders Eric Williams and Michael Pearson had seven tackles each.
The varsity Buccs (2-1) beat the Kings 25-8. Jake Dunniway passed for 220 yards and three touchdown passes, including two to Jake Hiltachk. Andrew Maroulas ran for 135 yards, including two touchdown runs.
Panther Youth Football
The Panthers traveled to Salida Middle School on Saturday, Aug. 25, to take on the Salida Steelers.
Teams don’t keep score at the junior novice level, but the Panthers recorded touchdowns by Christina Esparza, Joseph Chavez, Damien Boozer, Anthony Gomez and Daniel Behrmann, with Behrmann also intercepting a pass.
The Panther novice team (1-1) beat the Steelers 18-6. Michael Chavez made a 60-yard touchdown run and threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Morrison, and Jathen Cain scored on a 70-yard kickoff return.
The Steelers won the junior varsity game 38-19 to put the Panthers at 1-1.
The Steelers won the varsity game 50-12 to put the Panthers at 0-2. Aaron Cook scored both Panther touchdowns while Robert Camden and Placido Esparza both recorded quarterback sacks.
