Kimball (14-7, 5-3 Valley Oak League) pulled ahead of the Timberwolves (6-14, 2-6 VOL) in the first quarter on shots from sophomore Ayida Peters and junior Noni Kuumba, and increased the lead in the third quarter.
Peters led the Jaguars with nine points for the night, and Kuumba and sophomore Sarah Nunes contributed eight each.
McNair 65, West 43
West High’s girls fell 65-43 to the McNair Eagles at home Thursday, Jan. 24
But Wolf Pack coach Joe Hernandez said his team’s performance as a strong start to the second half of the Tri-City Athletic League season.
The last time West (10-13, 1-5 TCAL) faced McNair (20-1, 5-1) the Eagles won, 83-15.
The Eagles again dominated the first half to pull ahead 41-14 going into the third quarter, but the second half belonged to West.
This time, the Wolf Pack played its own powerful press to limit McNair’s scoring chances in the third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 29-24 in the second half.
Senior Emma Bell scored six of her team-high 14 points in the third quarter, and junior Nini Woodward scored six of her 10 points in the third.
