Polls opened at 7 a.m. and will continue to accept voters until 8 p.m.
According to John Treantos, precinct inspector at the American Legion, 1960 Tracy Blvd., nearly 300 of roughly 1,000 registered voters had voted in person by 5:15 p.m.
He has been working at the precinct since 2000 and noted that about 40 percent of the voters registered there were absentee voters.
“I’ve never seen it this busy in 12 years,” he said. “It’s been steady — we haven’t gone more than 10 minutes without someone voting.”
At the Tracy Unified School District Education Center, about 12 people had lined up out the door waiting to fill out their ballots.
The Tracy Press will post hourly updates tonight beginning at 8:30 p.m., when the first poll numbers should be available.
