Born in St. Louis, Mo., on June 15, 1922, Mrs. Officer lived in Tracy for 56 years before moving to Oakdale in 2007 and later to Manteca.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tracy and Community United Methodist Church in Oakdale.
In addition to her civil defense work, Mrs. Officer was active in parent-teacher committees and was a Cub Scout den mother in Tracy.
She was a founding member of the Tracy Stamp Club and a volunteer with the brown-bag food program.
Survivors include seven children, Barbara Officer of Indiana, Jessie Rae Conner of West Virginia, Robert Officer Jr., and his wife, Karen, of Tracy, Joe Officer, and his wife, Becky, of Oakdale, John Officer of Lathrop, Jim Officer, and his wife, Joan, of Manteca and Dorothy “Sami” Rehmke, and her husband, Roger, of Lodi; 28 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 36 years, Robert H. Officer; and two daughters, Charlotte Tyner and Dorothy Kentner.
The Saturday service will begin at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave. Private inurnment will take place later in Tracy Cemetery, 501 E. Schulte Road.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Officer’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
