Kalvin L. “Kal” Waetzig, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, is the new president of the Tracy Rotary Club.
He and other club officers were installed during the club’s annual “kickout night” in June at La Bonne Vie Cellars on Lehman Road.
Serving with Waetzig as club officers are Ben Goldberg, president-elect; Mark Wible, vice president; Cam Jones, secretary; Herve Chevaillier, treasurer; and Kaylin Schack, Mark Vien, Khaled Entabi, Jonalyn and Tom Henle, Nelson Hu, Leon Churchill and Kelly Wilson, directors.
The club’s major community project is presenting more than $20,000 in college scholarships annually to graduating seniors of Tracy area high schools.
Funds for the scholarship program and other club projects are generated by the Tracy Rotary Club’s annual crab feed, which this year will be on Oct. 26 at the Portuguese Hall.
The 35-member service club meets at noon Tuesdays at Manny’s Family Restaurant, 834 W. 11th St.
Waetzig, who succeeds Nelson Hu as Tracy Rotary Club president, is a native of Great Falls, Mont. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Concordia University in Portland, Ore., and a master’s degree in theology from Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mo.
Waetzig came to Tracy in 2006 to be pastor of St. Paul’s, which is home of Bella Vista Christian Academy. He and his wife, Lori, have three grown children.
