One local youth football team won its league championship on Saturday, and four more will play for their league titles on Dec. 7.

The Tracy Buccaneers rookies team beat the Manteca Cowboys 43-19 in the Delta Youth Sports Association Nor Cal Super Bowl at Cosumnes Oaks High School in Elk Grove on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Leading the way for the Buccs with more than 200 yards rushing was Trevor Pope, who ran in six touchdowns. Tavio Meeks also ran in a touchdown for the Buccaneers.

Coach Erin Dunniway credited Brandon Quinn and T.J. Williams as the defensive leaders of the rookies team.

“The team really dominated,” Dunniway said. “They played lights-out from special teams to offense and defense. They clicked, and they’ve been playing like that all season.”
