Baseball, softball all-stars to gather at UOP tonight

The top high school baseball and softball all stars will gather today for the 24th annual High School All Star Classic at University of the Pacific in Stockton.

Each year, the exhibition games are hosted by the United Way of San Joaquin Stockton Community Council and Recreation al Sports Club of San Joaquin County as a benefit for the two organizations and for the sports program s of participating schools.

Tracy is represented by nine baseball all-stars and 11 softball all-stars, and local coaches will lead the teams in today’s exhibition games. All players are recent graduates.

The North baseball team includes the San Joaquin Athletic Association’s Most Valuable Player, outfielder Braeden Oki of Tracy High, and his teammate Aaron Denholm. They will face off against a South team that includes the Central California Athletic Alliance MVP, pitcher and catcher Manjot Atwal of Millennium High; his teammate Spencer Blackwell; and Delta Charter High School’s Oliver Messier, Andrew Silva and Jason Rudnick. West High’s all-stars on the South team are Mitch Cowles and Devin Bell.

The South softball team includes 11 local players, including San Joaquin Athletic Association MVP Tayler Misfeldt of Tracy High and her teammates Jazmin Clarke, Ellie Fisher and Sabrina George. Kimball High has four players on the team, Llesenia Torres, Danielle Lallos, Amanda Riley and Gabbi Cox. West is represented by Haley Hollis and Kayla Lopez, and Millennium High’s lone softball all-star is Ericka Dominguez .
