The West High baseball team had a full-day Saturday including an afternoon home game against Kimball High. The Wolf Pack (3-3) got the 10-6 win on 13 hits, including five in West’s six-run rally in the bottom of the first.
Sophomore Jacob Rebar doubled twice, including an RBI double in the first and senior Garrett Speckman singled to drive in two runs in the first. Junior Ryan Wagner and senior Devin Bell both singled and doubled, junior Jack Kelley had two hits and two RBIs, and junior Jose Hernandez hit an RBI double.
Kimball (1-4) collected eight base hits, including three for junior Nate Hendricks and two for senior Matt Rodriguez.
West 9, Modesto Christian 7
The Wolf Pack banged out 10 hits to beat the Modesto Christian Crusaders 9-7 in Modesto earlier on Saturday.
Senior Mitch Cowles had two hits, including a two-RBI single in the second inning, and junior Kyle Hunt batted in a run in the sixth. West was up 6-2 midway through the sixth inning when the Crusaders (2-2) rallied for five runs, including a grand slam, and took a 7-6 lead.
Hunt returned to the plate to drive in two on a bases-loaded double in the top of the seventh, and junior Gabe Culver singled to bring on one more run.
Senior pitcher Tyler Durant got the win, and senior Devin Bell recorded the save after he came in with one out and the bases loaded and struck out the last two Modesto Christian batters.
Millennium 15, Woodland Christian 14
The Falcons (5-0) broke a 6-6 tie with a nine-run sixth inning on Saturday at Woodland Christian High (1-3) in Woodland, but just barely escaped with a 15-14 win after Woodland Christian scored two in the bottom of the sixth and rallied for six runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Senior Raymond DelaRosa hit a three-run homer and batted in five runs in all, senior Manjot Atwal had foru hits and four RBIs, and junior Eddie Diaz and senior Daniel Gutierrez had three hits and one RBI each.
Senior starting pitcher Manjot Atwal went five innings and gave up five hits and six runs, and junior reliever Isidro Cota got the win after he pitched the sixth inning and allowed three hits and two runs. DelaRosa started the seventh inning and gave up five runs and Gutierrez finished the game, giving up one run.
Millennium 6, Ripon Christian 4
Millennium freshman pitcher Steven Blackwell went six innings and allowed seven hits and four runs, two of them earned, and struck out five batters to get the 6-4 win on Friday at Ripon Christian High.
The Falcons scored with six hits and took advantage of four Ripon Christian (1-4) errors. Senior Raymond DelaRosa had two hits and batted in two runs and junior Isidro Cota and senior Spencer Blackwell also drove in runs.
Bear Creek 13, Kimball 4
The Bear Creek Bruins hammered the Kimball High pitchers for 18 hits on Friday in Stockton.
It was a 4-4 game midway through the sixth inning when the Bruins collected eight hits and nine runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Sophomore Kyle McPartland started on the mound for Kimball, junior Peter Van Katwyk pitched four innings of relief, and junior Cody Delbridge got the loss after he gave up six hits and six earned runs in the sixth inning. Junior Jake Barba finished the game, and gave up three hits and three runs, two of them earned.
Junior Nate Hendricks had two hits and batted in a run, Barba had two hits and senior Dylan Davis had a hit and an RBI.
