Baseball: Tracy takes another quick win over Chavez

The Tracy High baseball team again finished off Chavez in five innings on Tuesday, April 10, in Stockton.

Starting pitcher Jonah Wesely faced 16 batters and struck out 13 of them. He allowed no hits, and the one batter who reached base was thrown out by Tracy catcher Jake Shull when he tried to steal second.

Tracy had 10 hits and eight walks. John Jaeger had two hits and drove in four runs, Devon Denholm tripled and batted in three runs, Matt Loscavio singled and drove in two, Jake Shull singled and drove in two, David Miranda singled and drove in one, and Jonah Wesely, Josh Rogers, Kendrick Bergmann and Cody Daniel all singled.

Sophomores: Tracy 4, St. Mary’s 0

Tracy High’s sophomore baseball team traveled to Stockton on Wednesday to face St. Mary’s. Bulldog starting pitcher Anthony Nunez went for six innings, allowed no runs and six hits, struck out seven and walked one. C.J. Butcher faced three batters in the seventh inning and got them all out, including one strikeout.

The Bulldog bats racked up 10 hits. Josh Brakkee and Braeden Oki had two hits each, and Aaron Denholm, Ryan Vares, Nunez, Butcher, Michael Motyka and Anthony Singh had one hit each. Denholm, Oki, Nunez, and Butcher all drove in runs.

Delta Charter 8, Mountain Oaks 5

The Dragons’ pitching led the way in this road game victory at Mountain Oaks in San Andreas on Tuesday, April 10. Starting pitcher Jonathan Palmer got the win after he gave up three runs, one of them earned, on one hit, and he struck out four batters over four innings. Clark Muniz pitched three innings and allowed two runs on two hits and he struck out six.

Offensively the Dragons worked seven walks to add to eight hits. Palmer was had three base hits, three RBIs and he scored two runs. Andrew Silva had two hits and an RBI, plus a run a a stolen base. Darren Silva had two hits and an RBI, and Muniz had a hit, an RBI and a stolen base. Tyler Daugherty also reached base three times, had three steals and scored three runs. Jordan Serna walked and was hit by a pitch, and stole two bases and scored a run.

The Dragon defense turned two double plays. Tyler Riselvato made a sliding catch in center and then tossed to shortstop Darren Silva to catch a runner leaving early, and the game ended on a double play when Darren Silva snagged a pop fly behind second and threw to Palmer at first to catch the runner off-base.
