Barbara Jean Yocum, an 18-year Tracy resident, died Dec. 30 in Tracy. She was 83.

Mrs. Yocum, a native of Porterville, was born Aug. 6, 1930. She lived 40 years in Hayward before moving to Tracy. She had worked as a nurse at Eden Hospital of Castro Valley and Doctors Medical Center of Modesto, and she taught nursing in Hayward and Modesto. Locally, she was a member of the Tracy Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna Nava, and her husband, Benny, and Kathy Igarashi, and her husband, Garet, all of Tracy, and Connie Niemi, and her husband, Bill, of Monterey; a sister, Lois Berry, and her husband, Bill, of St. George, Utah; and three grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 57 years, Lawrence Yocom; and her parents, Irene and Harlan Thomsen.

Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., is handling arrangements.
