Limited spaces remain for two Amazon.com application events hosted by the City of Tracy and San Joaquin County WorkNet for positions at the online retailer’s 1-million-square-foot fulfillment center expected to open this fall.
The events are being held on Tuesday, July 16 and Thursday, July 18 from 2 to 6 p.m. at WorkNet, 543 W. Grant Line Rd., according to a press release from the city of Tracy.
Amie Mendes, a development analyst for the city of Tracy, said Thursday, July 11, there are 96 available spots for the two-day event. All 48 spots on Tuesday are filled, however as of Thursday afternoon, there were around 35 spots remaining, Mendes said.
These application events are for people who don’t have access to a computer.
Since Amazon only accepts online applications, WorkNet staff will offer assistance with the online process.
Mendes noted that no Amazon representatives will be at either event.
Interested applicants must make an appointment by calling 831-6170. Walk-ins are not accepted. Candidates must bring a copy of their high school diploma and a resume.
Two hourly positions are being offered — fulfillment associate and lead fulfillment associate.
Job duties include picking, packing and shipping, and available benefits include medical, dental, vision and a 401(k) savings plan.
The opening of the fulfillment center is expected to generate “hundreds” of jobs, the release states, however it’s unclear how many job openings are currently available.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, pass a post offer, pre-employment drug test, be able to lift 49 pounds and willing to stand or walk for a 10 to 12 hour shift, the release states.
The fulfillment center is opening in the Northeast Industrial area off Chrisman Road, south of Grant Line Road.
