Local heads to Canada on scholarship

Joseph Anderson of Tracy will attend Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia, Canada, where he has been awarded the Provost’s Scholarship, $5,000 per year.

The scholarship is awarded to incoming students based on GPA.

Anderson, son of Doug and Margarita Anderson, plans to study media and communications. During high school, he earned a black belt in tae kwon do.

Trinity Western is a Christian university offering 42 bachelor’s and 16 graduate degrees. Connecting Waters, based in Waterford, emphasizes individual learning.

Students earn academic recognition

Two Tracy residents attending Cornell University recently received kudos from the university’s College of Arts and Sciences.

Oscar Coaquira and Natalya Motyka both were named to the college Dean’s List for the spring semester.

Cornell, a member of the Ivy League, is in Ithaca, N.Y.

• Accolades runs in Our Town whenever we hear about someone who has done something extraordinary and deserves kudos for it. If you have news for Accolades, send it to, or drop off a note at the Tracy Press office.
