Six piano students from Tracy received perfect scores on written music theory exams given by the Music Teachers Association of California in March, placing in the top 13 out of 431 Tri-Valley-area students.
They are Sadie Fisher, St. Bernard’s Catholic School second-grader, prep level; Quynh Trosien and Romi Tsang, Tracy Learning Center third-graders, and Peyton Ozawa, Kelly School, level one; Anna Fisher, St. Bernard’s fifth-grader, level two; and Mikaela Mizuno, Jefferson School seventh-grader, level seven.
Anna has achieved perfect scores in two straight years, and Mikaela, four in a row.

Local graduate finishes studies at police academy
Anthony Alegre graduated in April from Monterey Peninsula College Police Academy. He will work as a state parks police officer.
Alegre, a 2005 graduate of Tracy High School, is the son of Dennis and Sidney Alegre of Tracy.
Tracy FFA celebrates student achievers
Sam Brown of Tracy FFA competed April 14 in the job interview contest at the State Leadership Conference, following a third-place finish at the Central Region Finals in February.
Rena Pombo also competed in extemporaneous speaking, finishing fifth overall in the region in February’s semifinals.
Both contests require students to be well-versed in agricultural topics and communicate concisely and effectively.
Four Tracy FFA students also competed in the Delta-Cal Sectional Proficiency contest, on the basis of multi-year projects: Elliott Mello, diversified crops; Damon Pombo, specialty animals (boar goats); Morgan Foster, horses; and Stephen Miller, beef production.
Mello, Pombo and Miller won at the regional level, and Pombo and Miller reached the top three in the state and competed in interviews April 17. Pombo was also a finalist for the state star farmer award.
Girl Scouts give for animals
Fresh off its annual cookie sale, local Girl Scout Troop 745 will donate $200 raised during the sale to the Tracy Animal Shelter.
“They’re all really into animals, and they wanted to help as much as they could,” said Amy Lindsay, a Scout parent.
The troop, led by Collette Crowley, will visit the shelter, 370 Arbor Road, on Saturday, April 30, to drop off the donation.
