Uranium dust E-mail
Written by John Upton/Tracy Press
Wednesday, 11 April 2007

Proposed explosives tests upwind from Tracy will release as much as 450 pounds of radioactive depleted uranium dust into the air every year, according to an air pollution permit application filed Friday by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

The blasts will annually release other elements into the air, some of which will also be radioactive, the application reads.

A permit allowing the blasts was approved with no public scrutiny by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District in November, but was withdrawn after a community backlash.

Regulators in March instructed the weapons lab to reapply for the permit and to provide data that would allow it to analyze the health effects of radiation that would be released by the blasts.

The district does not normally regulate radioactive material, and it had not been informed by the lab that the blasts would be radioactive.

District spokeswoman Jaime Holt said Wednesday that air pollution controllers had begun to evaluate the lab’s new permit application.

“We’ll be looking to see the extent of their risk assessment, and if we need to conduct one ourselves, we will,” Holt said.

Holt said there would be an “appropriate opportunity for public input” before the district approves or rejects the permit based on guidelines in the California Environmental Quality Act.

Many of the radioactive elements in the blasts already pollute the soil and water at Site 300, which along Corral Hollow Road is hidden in hills southwest of Tracy.

The director of the lab’s public affairs department said late Tuesday that she was unable to answer technical questions about the application.

“Nothing has changed from our application last fall,” Susan Houghton said. “We have simply resubmitted our application.”

The $1.7 billion a year Department of Energy lab has sought to increase its outdoor test limits from the equivalent of 100 pounds of TNT to 350 pounds, and to increase its annual testing amount eight-fold to 8,000 pounds “in support of homeland security and national defense activities,” according to the permit application.

Houghton and other lab representatives in January told the Tracy City Council that the lab has currently planned just three of the 30 blasts in the 350-pound range that would be allowed by the permit in the coming 18 months.

What is the purpose to this? And how far west would this be detonated? This is highly toxic and from what I've read cause birth defects and could be behind Gulf War Syndrome (maybe).

The prevailing winds are mostly from the West and South. What is their thinking?

And.off topic but..Isn't Lawrence Livermore Lab the one that came up with "Operation Clover Leaf?" With all the Chem Trails? What are they spraying and what is their purpose?

I've heard everything from: Weather Modification, Weather Wars, a "Sun screen", and to make us sick from the aluminum, barium and mycoplasmas to whittle down the population.

And since I've emailed the locals news channels/weather departments & politicians and have NEVER EVER RECEIVED AN ANSWER, I do have to wonder what is going on.....This from what I've read is on a global scale and yet there's practically DEAD SILENCE on this issue from MSM (Mainstream Media).

What comes up must come down and we all have to breath the contents of those Chem Trails, and could this be affecting animal life as well?

Could Chem Trails be contributing to the disapearance of the: bees, birds, butterflies?

True, there are a myriad of possible culprits such as: merely cycles, Weather/water conditions, over-building, predation, molds/funguses, mites, diseases peculiar to that species, pesticides and possible GM crops.

So what is going on?

Your on to a interesting point, chemtrails are now linked to Morgellons, which causes major skin sores, loss of mobility etc .... psst but of cause you didn't hear that from me, what would I know?

Depeleted uranium!?? That is the very same stuff we're using to rid the Middle East of filthy, bacward foreigners who think they have some right to our oil! Shells, bombs and bullets tipped with depeleted uranium!

Why are they dusting Tracy and all these other towns with that same stuff??!

Don't they know only, good, god fearing, tax paying REAL AMERICANS live there?

Know what the pentagon's own weapons analysts say about depleted uranium? They call it, "The best known force extender there is! It kills immediately on detonation, and then all the D.U. dust and gas in the wind just keeps on killing for 4.4 billion years!" That's the half life. "And the beauty is, it only takes a molecule or two to kick off lung cancer or leukemia in any dumb b*****d who breathes it!"

So, for all you "dumb b*****ds" in Tracy and anywhere else out there in the Big Valley, it might be time to wise up. At least a little bit.

Your government doesn't really think you're stupid for allowing these depleted uranium dust and gas clouds to waft thickly over your towns with each new Livermore Weapons Lab open air test explosion over all these years.

Heck no, your government actually KNOWS you're stupid about this, because you just keep on letting them do it, decade after decade!.

Hey, the weapons lab science nerds even have a name for that sort of behavior: they call it NATURAL DESELECTION.

It's time to rouse the villagers! Bring plenty of rope! Hell, bring everyting!--axes, pitchforks, torches, the whole nine yards!

To the first poster. So called depleted uranium IS Gulf War Syndrome. There is no MAYBE about it. The only reason there is doubt in any quarters is due to the amount of resources the Pentagon are putting into the covering up of the issue and the constant static of paid experts trying to muddy the waters. As for how far the stuff will spread. The Uranium used in Iraq was detected in Europe within months!

Already there is much Uranium contamination in the USA, and it is suspected to be the cause for the recent upsurge in Lung Cancers, more than Six fold increase, despite there being fewer smokers than ever. Lung Cancer is one of the first effects of minor DU poisoning. The stuff is not a mistake you can clean up later. With a half life of 4.5 Billion Years, once used it is staying forever.

By the way, 450lbs of DU, is quite a lot if released all in the same place. If we were stupid enough to believe the Pentagon it is less than they used in the Balkans where the result has been a 176% increase in Cancers! Most of the rest of the civilised world stopped using DU after the Balkans then the first Gulf war. The effects upon the troops were obvious and dramatic. Within a few years we realised the disaster we had from using the mere few hundred Kilos which had been used at that stage. The USA is the main exception to this international decision, though Israel couldn't help themselves. A new Genocidal weapon, how could they not?

No government is going to admit it poisoned it's own troops with nano scale alpha and beta particle emitters. This is going to make Agent Orange look like a minor accident.

A few Aussie vets from the first Gulf war were just tested properly recently and they showed Uranium poisoning. Three quarters of the USA Gulf war vets are on disability mainly because of the cavalier use of falsely designated Depleted Uranium. It is refined Uranium which has had a mere one or two percent of it's radioactive Isotopes removed. This is the Isotope containing the main Gamma radiation emitter. Alpha and Beta radiation which was always 95% of the radioactive danger is completely intact. There is little danger from these types normally, since the millimeter long range of the particles cannot penetrate skin or even a few sheets of paper. HOWEVER. Once the stuff pyrolises as it does in fire or explosion, it is largely now in particles small enough to enter the human lungs and bloodstream and even enter the cells directly. This the partciles do, since they have a unique afinity for DNA. The Ceramic Uranium Oxide particles are small enough to enter the cell, mutate the nucleus directly without killing it, (The most certain start to cancer) and then the particle can be recycled around the body for the rest of your life. Being joined by any new ones, accumalating and destroying bit by bit, ones internal organs. The most profound and obvious effect will be birth defects. The Iraqis already have to put up with birth defects more than eight times higher than before they were "LIBERATED" by the United States of Avarice.

Come to think of it. Use tons of Depleted Uranium all over America. Test a few tons of it around all your major cities. Go for your lives Americans. Just do it. It would seem to me to be the best way to deal with the situation where your nation is blowing the stuff all over the rest of us. Entirely just that the USA joins the party directly and not wait for the stuff you've used elsewhere to gradually blow around the globe to yourselves again. Why wait? Makes sense to me.

You've made some great points everybody.

Thank you very much for all the detail, Rabbit. I've read some info on DU & GWS, not to this extent though. The only I reason I said (maybe) for the Gulf War Syndrome was because I might have gotten somebody who would have ragged on me for being a "conspiracy theorist", so I thought I would try to tone it down. Oh hell, I've already gotten a lot of accusations of being a conspiracy theorist. What was I afraid of this time?

I myself have MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity) and I've been rididuled right and left....And I found out the hard way that the Mainstream Medical Community denies the existence of MCS/refers us to psychiatrists instead when the allergy tests come up negative-and the media wasn't helpful in that regard either. Either they discredited us or they don't talk about us at all. I also have a mother & mother-in-law who insist on wearing perfume around me even though it makes feel like an asthmatic,drunk-like, disoriented space cadet. And some people still insist on smoking around me yet...I just can't get them to understand.

Anyway, back to the subject, I've also been reading up on Morgellans (I'm an avid Jeff Rense fan). Man, if that's true, that's a very nasty critter. And since the Mainstream Medical Community denies its existence, I could easily see getting out of control & becoming a plaque.

Thanks again all and I appreciate all the info you sent, Rabbit.

Worried about radioactivity? Look at fluoridation agent Fluorosilicic Acid, byproduct of phosphate fertilizer industry here. Call county health department and request the American Water Works Association Standard B703-06. The Foreword notes source and process, and on page 13 an entire page of contaminants including "uranium, radium 226-228 and alpha and beta particles. So, see you are all walking, talking recycling units for the industry.

Thanks for that info also, Florida Cracker. I've been avoiding using fluoride toothpaste and use bottled water, so hopefully that helps.

We are in deep trouble. Our government is corrupt and is only interested in the profits for the corporations. Do you think two planes brought down three steel reinforced buildings in the World Trade Center? That got us in this awful war against a nation accused of maybe having Weapons of Mass Destruction---well--we have them and are using them in wars and in weapon testing at the Livermore Lab in California. Don't vote for either the Dems or the Repukes. We need more choices and public finance of political campaigns so polititions don't sell their soul and our government to the corporations.

Let me get this straight: US citizen Jose Padilla is stripped of his habeas corpus rights and thrown into our military gulags, where he is tortured in order to break his mind.

His crime: allegedly plotting to set off a dirty bomb in the US

[oh - wait - the US govt can't find the evidence, so they dropped the charge - but Padilla's still a Really Bad Guy 'cause we've learned to associate his name with "dirty bomb". Right around an election - but I digress.]

When the DOE even plans to set off multiple quarter-ton dirty bombs a mile outside of Tracy, Homeland Security swoops down and stuffs 'em in the orange jumpsuits and goggles and put 'em in the brig for four years while refusing to produce them for Federal Judges, right?

Uh - pardon me. I was thinking back to when we lived in a Republic.

Nope, the DOE people who've already been setting off smaller dirty bombs for years leave the office and go to the homes purchased with their Federal salaries.

Salaries paid for their work detonating radioactive dirty bombs just upwinnd from the aquadict that waters LA nd the farms that feed America.

Mourning in America, all right

proofreading is should have been my friend. apologies for typos.

On the bright side, the 'net community at Firedoglake is asking if online petition drives could be helpful for you all.

The news site "International Clearing House" [dot info] has linked to this story in your great local paper.

Hope lots of help comes for you all. Thanks for helping stop the dirty bombs in California.

Here's a link to a movie produced by the US Army on the dangers of DU (which they never bothered to show the troops, for some reason)

US ARMY TRAINING VIDEO: Depleted Uranium Hazard Awareness

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article3581.htm

Maybe the Tracy town fathers should watch it before giving them the go-ahead.

E-mail those "scientists" in Livermoore and call them what they are: criminals.
The Bay Area is already well known for higher cancer rates than even Chernobyl.
That is a great way to controll overpopulation in the USA.
