About 80 pro bowlers will come to Tracy in October when West Valley Bowl hosts the Professional Bowlers Association West Region Tournament.
West Valley Bowl general manager Herb Hunter said the event will include three days of competition on Oct. 10 to 12, including the final matches Sunday afternoon when the top 32 bowlers will compete for top prizes. The PBA puts the first-place prize at $2,500.
“This tour is a big thing for us, even to have our own Stockton and Modesto competition,” Hunter said.
The PBA has had the event in Tracy three times within the past five or six years, and Hunter hopes to make this an annual event. He expects that Professional Bowlers Association champions from around the Western states will show up for the event, which will include a practice session Friday night, preliminary rounds Saturday morning and afternoon, and a pro-am Saturday evening.
