Workshops aimed at getting teenagers jobs after school are scheduled for every Wednesday in September. To encourage teens to apply for after-school jobs, the city and a San Joaquin County employment agency will host a workshop every Wednesday in September. San Joaquin County WorkNet and the city of Tracy plan to teach teens how to prepare job applications, how to dress for a work interview and how to communicate professionally. WorkNet will also present different Tracy jobs that are available for teens and will show them how to troll for employment on their own using job searches, among other things. Close to 50 teens found jobs through a similar workshop during the summer, according to city officials. Local businesses, the Tracy Unified School District, the Mayor’s Community Youth Support Network and the county put together the workshops to help working-age minors find, through gainful employment, "a safe and productive outlet when the school day is over." The city encourages businesses willing to employ teens to attend the workshops and bring job applications. To get city-paid bus passes to attend, call 831-6125.
