i was wondering the same thing myself JonnoB. No disrespect to coach schneider however, i feel this is a disrespect to peter b kyne. coach schneider won over 200 career games as a coach and was a favorite phys ed teacher among the students. kyne earned the naming, so why take it away? did he suddenly lose favor? or is it to update the naming with someone that more people know of?

First off if you read the article or Sentence it says Wayne Schneider STADIUM. The stadium is in honor of Coach Schneider and the field is still Peter B. Kyne FIELD! Congrats Coach Schneider you deserve it!

No homeboy 4 life it's not! They have been takling about this for the last 2 years behind closed doors. For the last year it has been public, plus there have many other timess it was posted on the TP. If anything I think Coach Schneider got the bad end of the deal he has by far done way more for not just Tracy but valley sports than Peter ever did. I sure this is just start to the many honor's Coach Schneider will get for being one of the best high school football coach's in the country.

the stadium is Kyne, the field is Schneider, so Kyne got the better deal, and what has schneider done? I mean look at Lopez, the "football school" has changed from tracy to west

Interesting. Both Stroup (Tracy head coach) and Lopez (West head coach) played for Schneider when he was the head coach at Tracy. Lopez is a good coach and his teams have done fairly well. Scheider however made Tracy a perrenial powerhouse for the decades he was the head coach. He won 2 sectional titles something that Lopez and Stroup have not yet done. You can see Schneider's handprint on everything football in this town. I did misinterpret the article and I can see that Kyne (who donated the land for the field in 1927 I think) will not lose his namesake and Schneider will get the appropriate honor of having his name tied to the stadium itself. Hopefully Tracy will get the money to build Tracy High a new field. The West High field looks great and I assume Kimball will too. Tracy High should get the same type of treatment. This is a football town and it would be great to have teh best of facilities for our kids.
