The four Tracy Buccaneers youth football teams posted a perfect record on opening weekend. All four Tracy Buccaneers youth football teams won their first games of the season against the San Jose Steelers on Saturday in San Jose. Starts: Buccs 40, Steelers 0 Jake Dunniway led the scoring with 120 yards on five carries and two touchdowns. Josh Alvarado had 115 yards on five carries with two touchdowns, and Ethan Bejines had 68 yards on four carries and one touchdown. The Buccs also scored on Bejines’ 12-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Leanardo. The defense was led by Marquise Cunningham and Garren Harris who each had six tackles on the day. Cunningham also had two sacks. Rookies: Buccs 46, Steelers 0 One the second play of the day, Justin Mills scored on a 30-yard scamper and Brandon Russell punched it in for the extra point, one of his two for the day. Tracy scored again when DaJon Robinson ran 25 yards for the touchdown, and he scored again in the fourth quarter on a 76-yard run. Robinson led the Buccs with 118 yards on four carries and two touchdowns, Jake Alvarado went 56 yards on one carry and scored one touchdown, and Mills followed with 40 yards on two carries and one touchdown. The Buccs also got solid offense from Isaiah Floyd, Isaiah Downes and Angelo Mifsud. The defense was led by Marquez Vaughn who had seven tackles and one fumble recovery. Nick Medina and Kumani MeGee each had six tackles, and Megee had a sack. Junior varsity: Buccs 35, Steelers 0 Josh Brakkee, Karsten Lee, TaVone Johnson, Gabe Miller and Luke Pulliam all scored touchdowns for the Buccs. Further details were not available. Varsity: Buccs 26, Steelers 22 The Steelers held the Buccs on their first possession and then marched down the field and scored on pass play to the San Jose tight end, followed by a two-point conversion. The Buccs came back with a 56-yard burst by Xavier Brooks, who eventually ran for 267 yards on 14 carries and had four touchdowns on the day. Leading on defense was Zack Perugi with 10 tackles, followed by Bruce Russell with nine tackles, Brooks with eight and Raj Kumar with seven tackles. The Buccs play again Saturday at the Grape Bowl in Lodi, where they will face the Tokay Tigers. Starts play at 9 a.m., rookies 11 a.m., JV at noon and varsity at 3 p.m.
