Tracy United Chaos win Galt tournament

The Tracy United Chaos under-14 Division III boys started their 2008-09 season with a first-place finish at the Charles Driscoll Founders Cup on Aug. 2 and 3. County Line Youth Soccer League in Galt hosted the tournament.

The Chaos beat the Sierra Gold Rangers, 4-0, in their first game on Saturday of that weekend. Marcus Matta, on a pass from Jackson Nott, scored his team’s first goal of the season in the 17th minute. In the second half, Steven Dominguez scored on a penalty kick, and Miguel Madruga scored on a pass from Nott. For the fourth goal, Madruga popped the ball up for Scott White, who headed the ball into the net. Chaos goalie Tommy Langley recorded 12 saves.

The Chaos then beat Elk Grove Real Madrid, 6-0, scoring all six goals in the first half. Misael Pacheco scored the first goal with an assist from Jacob Aini. Madruga scored two more, including one with an assist from Dominguez. Nott, Jason Reading and Sean Thaler each scored, and Jeremy Biehl was credited with an assist. Elk Grove was only able to shoot on-goal four times, and Langley stopped all four shots.

In the championship game Sunday, the Chaos beat the host County Line Rangers, 6-2. County Line scored first on a penalty kick, but Tracy came back with a goal from Madruga. Thaler scored for Tracy on a pass from Reading, and Dominguez scored again on a penalty kick. In the second half, Reading scored from a pass from Aini, and then Madruga scored two more goals for his first hat trick for the season. The Rangers scored once in the second half.

The Chaos is one of four local teams that will play again this weekend in their home tournament, the Tracy United Competitive Soccer Club’s Scott Wilharm Memorial Tournament at Plasencia Fields and the Tracy Sports Complex.
