A new Mexican eatery with a bar and party deck offers "authentic" food right on the water. For a long time, residents of Tracy have gone to the Grant Line Canal to swim and fish, but now there is a new reason to go — Que Taco. Que Taco is the first restaurant of Zita Onofrietti, whose family owned an eatery in Mexico City. She also owned a popular catering company there and worked in a kitchen. She has been a chef in America for 10 years and has just opened her dream restaurant. "I would like to bring the authentic Mexican food to the people," she said. Que Taco, she said, is founded on the idea that people need to taste real Mexican food. A lot of what passes for Mexican food is actually Tex-Mex, she said, which is very different from the real thing. One example is the taco. Unlike what’s typically served at many restaurants, it consists only of a soft tortilla, meat, cilantro, and fresh refried beans. Que Taco features patio seating overlooking the river right next to the boat launch, so that patrons can get to the restaurant by water or land. It also boasts a full bar and party area and, in all, has seating for 60 people. At the Aug. 23 grand opening, the blues band Blue A Fuse will perform in the patio area from 7 to 10 p.m. At a glance WHAT: Mexican restaurant grand opening WHEN: 7 to 10 p.m. Aug. 23 WHERE: 12450 W. I notice two different addresses here in this article--- just take Tracy Blvd north, at the second water crossing you will see the signs on the left (one bridge past the Heinbuckle). Used to be the old Oasis...you can rent boats across the street. Karokee is coming there on Saturdays I believe.... awww...who would EVER think of a nice entertainment venue IN TRACY!!! Save a dime-- and take a short agricultural ride out of Tracy and show your family the Delta....
