Bucs spokesman Cliff Mills said the Tracy teams will play the San Jose Steelers, one of the new teams this year in the National Youth Football League, which has 19 teams in three sections: San-Stan, Bay Area and Sac-Joaquin.
Each team will have 10 games during the season, with games every Saturday or Sunday through Oct. 19. The Bucs won’t have their first home game until Sept. 13, when they play the Delta Patriots East, one of three teams in the Sac-Joaquin Section’s Delta River Conference, which includes the Bucs and the Galt Colts.
The Bucs will also play at Tracy High on Sept. 27, and they’ll play their last three home games on Oct. 4, 11, and 18 at Steve Lopez Stadium at West High.
Mills said the four Buccaneer teams, including the starts, rookies, junior varsity and varsity, have looked good so far, based on round-robin scrimmages the past two weekends, one at Cosumnes River College on Aug. 2 and at West High on Saturday.
“They had a real good showing this weekend,” he said. “The kids are learning a lot.”
Saturday’s games will be at San Jose High Academy, 275 N. 24th St., in San Jose. Games begin with the starts at 10 a.m., rookies at noon, junior varsity at 2 p.m. and varsity at 4 p.m. Games begin for the Delta Youth Football League, including the Tracy Raiders and Tracy Cougars, the weekend of Sept. 6.
