The Mountain House Kite Festival returns this year, allowing revelers to take advantage of the community's blustery conditions. Mountain House’s Kite Festival will return later this month. The Mountain House Community Services District decided to host the second-year Kite Festival as a way to take advantage of the town’s often windy conditions. Organizers say last year’s festival was a success, with more than 600 attendees watching kites soar through the air. This year, there will be demonstrations throughout the day, one by the Bay Area Sundowners, a renowned kite acrobatic team, that’s been performing for 20 years. The Sundowners are best known for their four-kite choreographed routines, performed to music. There will also be a working windmill to teach folks about wind power. Visitors are welcome to bring their own kites, as there will be a designated area to fly them, and vendors will sell food and kites. The festival will also offer a children’s area with a clown, hula-hoop contest, face painting, relay races and a pick-up soccer game. There will also be demonstrations from Traditional Martial Arts Academy and Triple Threat Performing Arts, both from Tracy. After 2 p.m., the band On Air will perform classic rock covers in the styles of Chicago and Tower of Power. Trackback(0)
