The Tracy Titans Blue 12-and-under fastpitch softball team came in third place in the recent United State Specialty Sports Association 12-and-under B World Series in Peoria, Ariz.

Head coach Ray Misfeldt said it’s the best showing yet for a Titans team, part of the Tracy Express youth softball program. The finish also means a third-in-the-state ranking for the Titans in Northern California among 12-and-under B teams, and a No. 13 rank in the U.S.

He added that it’s a good showing against teams that tend to recruit players from large areas and change their rosters often during the season. Titans Blue team members are all from Tracy, came up through Tracy Express youth softball league and have been together since the start of the season.

“All season long, our goal was to peak at state and worlds, and by hard work and dedication we were able to do that,” he said. “These girls hang out on and off the filed, are the best of friends and have unbelievable chemistry.”

Misfeldt that next year, when they become a 13-and-under team, the girls will have to move up to A-level play.

Along with the third-place finish, the team also had three players named to the All-Tournament team. They include pitcher-shortstop Danielle Lallos, pitcher-third baseman Tayler Misfeldt and pitcher Emma Bell. Bell also won the all-skills award for batting, throwing and running, and Lallos won the skill award for batting.

The Titans went 4-3 against teams from around the Western states during games from July 20 to 27. They went 2-1 in pool play and won the first two rounds of double-elimination play before they fell 4-15 to the Shockwave of Mesa, Ariz. The Shockwave went on to become the tournament champs after they came up through the losers bracket and twice beat the Scarlet Saints of Woodland, 7-4 and 10-5.
