Altamont Motorsports Park will host two NASCAR Whelen Western Late Model races today as part of a program that also includes three U.S. Auto Club sprint races and a Northern California Modified Association sprint race.

WLM points leader Jason Gilbert of Pleasanton has five wins and 12 top-10 finishes in 13 races at Altamont. Guy Guibor of Manteca and Doff Cooksey of Brentwood are also in the running to become the top points leader. Tracy’s Justin Philpott is 11th in the standings with five top-10 finishes, including a win July 5 and a third place finish July 12.

They will race in two 50-lap features Saturday on the half-mile paved oval. The first WLM race will be followed by the Northern California Modified Association 30-lap feature on the half-mile. David Goodwill of Napa leads the points standings in that division.

The U.S. Auto Club will follow with three races. The 30-lap Ford Focus main event will be on the quarter-mile, with Alex Bowman of Arizona and Ian Mille of Pleasanton leading the standings.

The 50-lap sprints will follow. Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg is at the top of the standings, with Nick Rescino Jr. of San Francisco and Eric Humphries of Chowchilla in second and third, respectively.

The midgets will be next, with Nic Faas of Huntington Beach leading the standings and Robby Jossett of Santa Clarita, C.J. Sarna of Palm Desert and Scott Pierovich of Alamo also going after top spots.

The day will close with the second WLM 50-lap event.
