Gunshots rang out between 11th and 12th streets, and a teenager said someone was firing into the ground with a handgun in an alley.

Six to eight gunshots were fired off in an alley between 11^th and 12^th streeta at 1:16 p.m. today, drawing police. No one was injured.

Henry Ledoux of Culligan Water in a nearby shopping mall called the police department after he heard the shots and saw people running out of Allsmile Dental.

Maricela Venegas of Allsmile was on her lunch hour in the break room in the back of the dentistry when she heard the shots and went running out of the dentistry to her car to dial 911.

“The shots were so loud they made the building shake,” Venegas said. “It sounded like a semi-automatic.”

A girl on the 1100 block of 12^th Street outside of the Valdry’s Apartments said a guy was firing off a handgun at the ground in the alley behind the complex.

Shooting within the city limit? Rules on that?

Like most every city, no discharging of weapons within city limits.
