Investigators say a Tracy man jumped out of a boat to escape sheriff's deputies after two San Jose men were stabbed — one fatally — at Lost Isle on Saturday.
LOST ISLE — A man died Sunday in the hospital after being
stabbed with a friend at the Lost Isle Bar and Resort Saturday night, the San
Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The other man is
still in critical, possibly life-threatening condition.
Authorities
believe the attacker to be 31-year-old Javier Jiminez of Tracy, who fled the
island in a boat shortly after the fight.
The suspect
leaped into the water when he saw deputies closing in.
Deputies called
in a Sacramento County helicopter spotlight, a SWAT team and search dogs, but
failed that night to track the suspect down.
Joseph Cisneros,
29, was stabbed several times in his upper body. He was flown by
helicopter to San Joaquin General Hospital, where he died Sunday.
Ernest Michael
Ochoa Jr., 23, is still at Doctor’s Hospital in Modesto, where he’ll undergo
surgery today. Both men were from San Jose.
Onlookers
reported a third victim, but no one came forward.
Anyone with
information about the stabbing is asked to call investigators at 468-4425. To
remain anonymous, call Tracy Crimestoppers at 831-6847.
