Manteca man and Stockton teen charged in June 28 shooting of Tracy resident on Grant Line Road.
Jesse Najera Police today arrested a Manteca
man and added attempted murder charges to an already arrested Stockton
teen for shooting a 29-year-old Tracy
resident in the head late last month.
Jesse Najera, 20, drove his car up to Jack in the Box, 611 W. Grant Line Road,
on June 28, and a 17-year-old passenger shot Johnny Alvarado, according to reports.
The bullet shot through Alvarado’s cheek, and he lived.
Either the shooter or Najera shouted a Norteno catch phrase as
they sped off, Alvarado’s girlfriend told police. She was in the car with him
when he was shot.
The alleged shooter, who wasn’t named because of his age,
faces charges of attempted murder, gang enhancement, use of a firearm and another
for shooting at an occupied car.
He was already at San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall in Stockton for an unrelated
crime.
After he was shot, Alvarado drove off with his girlfriend,
lost control of the car, sheared a fire hydrant and rammed into a nearby apartment building.
He recovered after spending several days at Doctor’s
Hospital in Manteca
Tracy police compared suspect
descriptions with Manteca
police and the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department to find the men.
Manteca detectives recently
found Najera’s car in front of his Manteca
home and issued warrants to search the place and arrest him. Tracy
police also searched the teen’s Stockton
home.
Tracy
detective Tim Bauer led the investigation.
Police will hand over the case to Deputy District Attorney
Ronald Freitas, who specializes in gang cases.
