An 8-and-under softball team puts together a winning record in its introduction to tournament play.

The Tracy Express 8-and-under All-Stars have showed that they are ready for competition.

“It was just to get the girls together and get them exposed to competitive softball,” head coach Ana Telles said.

The girls had a record of 7-1-3 in two tournaments and gave up a total of three runs, including one run in the game they lost. Two of their ties were 0-0 games.

“We have some amazing pitchers. These girls are only 8 years old, and to have the pitching we have is unheard of,” Telles said. “These girls are naturals out there, and they know what they’re doing.”

The team formed out of the Tracy Express recreational league and has traveled to the Bay Area for competition. Team members are Halle Burrell, Rachel Cid, Mikayla Coelho, Alexis Dawe, Alyissa Escobar, Alysa Farfan, Sydney Hedges, Hanna Navarra, Lily Pelican, Kelly Ramirez, Elizabeth Rangel, Amaya Salas, Madison Salazar, Brianna Serrato, Kelcy Telles, Rebecca Trejo, Morgan Wheeler and Lyndsey Widner.

The team played once more over the weekend at the Wess Jones Memorial Tournament in South San Jose, where they gave up just three runs in four games but didn’t have the hitting they needed and went 1-3 for the weekend, losing in the first round of single elimination to the Campbell Crush, the tournament champs.

Their last game this year will be players versus parents on Thursday at Big League Dreams, 1077 Milo Candini Drive, in Manteca.
