Road work

California Department of Transportation will close multiple lanes on southbound Interstate 5 as far south as Kasson Road outside Tracy this week. The lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. through Friday as crews grind and dig out the roadway for paving. 

 

Telephone town hall

Rep. Jerry McNerney will host a “telephone town hall” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

Residents in the 11th Congressional District may join the hour-long conference call to ask questions and listen to McNerney.

‘Shrek’ coming to town

Comcast and the city of Tracy will present the first in a series of free movies at dusk Friday next to the new City Hall, 333 Civic Center Plaza.

Residents are invited to take their own blankets and food, starting at 6:30 p.m. There will be face painting, prizes and entertainment before the movie — “Shrek the Third” — begins at 7:30 p.m.

Police survey forums

Results of a survey conducted by the Tracy Police Department will be discussed at a second meeting, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at North Elementary School, 2875 Holly Drive.

Pregnancy resource center fundraiser

To raise money for the Pregnancy Resource Center of Tracy, the nonprofit and Texas Roadhouse restaurant will host a “Drive-Thru To Go” fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Participants must buy their tickets in advance from the resource center.

Women’s networking group

“Stop Chasing Clients and Get them to Chase You” is the title of a talk by marketing professional Chris Williams planned at the next Tracy Express Network meeting, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The local chapter of the American Business Women’s Association meets the Tuesday of each month at Holiday Inn Express, 3751 N. Tracy Blvd.

Church yard sale

The Family Bible Church will have a yard sale to raise money for its women’s ministries from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 2. Groups may also reserve booths for $25.

Amateur radio club

The Tracy Amateur Radio Club and Tracy Fire Department will have a one-day ham radio class from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 2 at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. Cost is $20, which includes the $14 Federal Communications Commission test fee.

The next club meeting is at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 at Tracy Fire Station 94, 16502 W. Schulte Road.
