Soccer team car wash
Tracy Futbol Club will have a car wash to raise money for the club’s under-11 girls team from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Tracy Flooring, 104 W. 11th St.

Cost is $7 and $10.

Little League benefit

Mountain House Little League is already preparing for its second season with a pancake breakfast, yard sale and barbecue today at Wicklund Elementary School, 300 Legacy Drive, in Mountain House.

Organizer Susan Patteson said the event will raise money to support the league, which had about 200 players, including two All-Star teams, in its first year.

The league is looking for home-based businesses and craft people who would like to set up booths during the event.

Cost for tables at the fair is $25.

The event kicks off with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. in the school multipurpose room, and tickets for the breakfast are $5 each.

The yard sale and barbecue will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the school parking lot.

Raider chaplain is guest speaker

Grace Baptist Church’s men’s group, Tracy Men of Christ, will host a breakfast meeting from 8 to 9:30 a.m. today at the church, 1330 N. Tracy Blvd.

Guest speaker Adam Ybarra, chaplain for the Oakland Raiders, will share football stories and talk about the importance of community service.

The event will include a drawing for a football autographed by 1987 Heisman Trophy winner and Raider Tim Brown.

There is no cost, but donations will be accepted.

Tracy High sports camp
The Tracy High Athletic Booster Club will host the Summer Sports Jamboree sports camp for all youths in grades K-8 for one more week, Monday through Friday.

Camps at Tracy High, 315 E. 11th St., will include instruction on volleyball, tennis, wrestling, soccer, flag football, dance and cheer, basketball and tumbling. There will also be guest speakers and contests.

Cost is $75.

Softball tryouts
The She Devils girls fastpitch softball team will host tryouts for its 12- and 13-and-under team from noon to 2:30 p.m. today and July 26 at Morenzone Ballfield, corner of Union Road and Center Street, in Manteca.

Baseball camp

Former Beyer High and Bel Passi baseball player Eric Bell will host his ninth annual Baseball Summer Camp at Rainbow Fields, 3800 Claribel Road, in Modesto.

The camp will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Wednesday. It will include other local players as instructors.

Cost is $190.

Soccer tryouts

Alternativo Futbol Club will have tryouts from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at Plasencia Fields at Corral Hollow and Krohn roads.

The team has openings for players born between Aug. 1, 1994, and July 31, 1996, for the 13-and-under boys and girls teams and the 14-and-under boys team.

Players born between Aug. 1, 1991, and July 31, 1994, are also welcome to try out. A parent or guardian must go to the first tryout.

Players must also take cleats, shin guards and water.

Big League Dreams sports park, 1077 Milo Candidi Drive, near the intersection of Highway 120 and Airport Way, in Manteca, is taking signups for indoor soccer leagues.

Players can join for the remainder of season three and the upcoming season four.

The Tracy Storm girls 13-and-under traveling basketball team needs six more players to fill the team’s roster for the 2008-09 season, which begins in August.

The Storm is a competitive program that practices three days a week and emphasizes fundamentals and preparation for high school basketball.
