Tracy is an island without trains E-mail
Written by Eleanor Christie / For the Tracy Press
Friday, 18 July 2008

A local woman regrets the lack of public transportation connecting California's cities and sights.

EDITOR,

I would love train transportation to come to Tracy — or even a bus. Tracy has many assets, but transportation isn’t one of them.

I moved here in 2000 and have yet to find a way to get to Lake Tahoe without having to drive my car, which I can’t do. Tracy is an island.

Eleanor, I hear you! Right!!!

I'd like to visit Tracy and leave the "driving" to the train, just enjoy the scenery and appreciate the arrival at Tracy's Bow Tie. It would be something to see a new Courthouse seen off the side of the Multi-Modem Transport. (Think Bums will want to hang around either buildings, I don't think so!!)
Beautiful buildings at that site, if only both parties agree to look for commonality, what is the best for Tracyites!
Let both buildings help each building out by being vagrant repellant! How about it???? Both Parties???

My relatives complained that there were no train to Tracy otherwise they would have visited me while I was in Tracy!! Families wants to visit other families, too!! They bring revenues, too! smilies/wink.gif

Hope our wishes will come true!!!

Thanks, Eleanor!

While I too would like to see better train and public transportation services for Tracy, I would like to point out there is a scheduled Greyhound stop on Grant Line Road across from Foster Freeze.

There are also several daily bus routes to Stockton and the Pleasanton Bart station in the Bay Area provided by San Joaquin Rapid Transit District. You may want to check out these when considering your next trip to Tahoe.

I know that in the winter, there are programs where people can take a bus from Tracy to winter parks/resorts for snow boarding and skiing. There may be something similar to that for the winter as well. Sometimes it requires some research to find out about these. I know some are teens do this to snowboard during the winter.

You are correct and you an get a Greyhound either from here or Stockton to Sacramento and take their $35 Reno special bus to Reno and Tahoe as well. I have a very close friend that just did that trip two weeks ago. If you need to get to Stockton try SJRTD who has several buses daily from Tracy to Stockton.

The Transit Station in the bowtie will help provide more transit for Tracy, CA.

Looking forward to that too!

cant you ride ACE to Stockton and then catch Amtrack?

Steve,

You can take the Amtrack (Capital Corridor) from Santa Clara to Sacramento too (not Tahoe). That might be easier just for commuters. More direct than transferring. But at some point with the New Transit Station in Tracy, perhaps Amtrack will go through here. That would give people even more reasons to look into purchasing more homes in Tracy, CA and other Central Valley given the price of fuel and the train ride must sure beat driving in stop and go traffic. Sounds like it would be good idea to get the NEW Tracy Transit Station!

There is a SJRTD already going from Tracy to the Bay Area. I think they can stop at the NEW Tracy, CA Transit Station.

Sounds like there are a few options for commuters to get to the Bay Area, from Tracy, CA!!!
