Tracy's Little League Junior All-Stars head to the Section 3 championship.

After two straight wins, Tracy Little League’s Junior American All-Star team is headed for the Northern California Section 3 championship game Wednesday in Redwood City.

Tracy American, the District 67 champions, beat the Pleasanton National Little League All-Stars, the champions from District 57, on Saturday afternoon, 12-9. On Sunday, Tracy American beat the Redwood City National All-Stars of District 52 in a 12-0 contest.

Tracy American Manager Mark Scornaienchi said the team gains confidence with every win. That will boost Tracy American as the team goes after a spot in the Northern California Division II tournament, which begins in San Jose on Saturday.

Saturday’s 12-9 win started with a seven-run rally in the first inning, with Jason Thomassen knocking in the first run on a double and Zach Abshire blasting a bases-loaded triple for three runs. Tracy also got hits from Kyle Scornaienchi and Manny Robles in the first.

Tracy scored again in the fifth on hits from Joe Reboca and Thomassen and a sacrifice bunt by Scornaienchi. Darren Elbert batted Reboca in on an error, and Nano Aguirre drove a base hit into right field to score two more.

Daniel O’Brien led off the sixth inning with a double to right-center and rounded the bases to score on a wild pitch, and Cody Daniel got base hit in the seventh and also scored on a wild pitch.

In Sunday’s 12-0 win, Robles threw 62 pitches over five innings, allowing three hits for Redwood City’s batters and two walks. The Tracy defense didn’t let a runner past second base.

Tracy put up four runs in the first inning on hits from Daniel and Thomassen, plus a sacrifice fly from Scornaienchi and a bases-loaded single from Elbert. A key hit from Chase Johnson contributed to two more runs in the third, and the four-run fifth inning included RBI singles from Reboca and Thomassen and a bases-loaded single from Daniel to score two more.

Three more Northern California Section 3 tournaments begin this week. Tracy Little League hosts the Major tournament at Jefferson School, with the first game Wednesday and the championship game Sunday. The Manteca Little League All-Stars will represent District 67.

The 9-10 tournament also will be in Tracy starting Wednesday at Monticello School, with the championship game Sunday. Tracy Little League’s American 1 All-Star team, representing District 67, will play its first game at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

San Ramon Valley Little League will host the Section 3 10-11 tournament at Los Cerros School in Alamo, with the first game Friday and the championship game Tuesday. The Tracy National All-Stars will represent District 67 and play their first game at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
