The Tracy Tritons take second at a Turlock meet.

 



The Tracy Tritons swim team took second place at the SeaDog Invitational, formerly the Hughson Invitational, in Turlock last weekend.

 

Top team for the tournament was the Oakdale Gators with 551 points. Tracy scored 517 team points. More than 700 swimmers were entered in Saturday’s races, which went more than 11 hours.

Other team scores were Ripon SeaLions, 497.50; Sea Dogs, 416; Ceres Dolphins, 380; Manteca Dolphins, 241.50; Turlock Marlins, 22; Patterson Pirates, 10; and Modesto Sharks, 3.

Tracy’s Danielle Daviscourt was the high scorer for the meet in the 17-18 girls as she took first place in all three of her events and tied the team record in the girls butterfly. Her times were as follows: 50 butterfly, 28.59 seconds; 50 breaststroke, 35.20; 50 freestyle, 26.84.

Teammate Joseph Sanchez also won all three of his events and was the points leader in the 17-18 boys. His times: 100 freestyle, 52.51; 100 backstroke, one minute, 2.12 seconds; 50 freestyle, 24.15.

Other Tracy swimmers also took home first-place awards: Caitlin O’Neill, 6-and-under girls, 25 freestyle, 19.34. Lindsay Huckaba, 9-10 girls, 100 freestyle, 1:14.42; 50 freestyle, 32.08. Alyssa Froiland, 9-10 girls, 50 butterfly, 38.05; 50 breaststroke, 40.55. Jennifer Porter, 15-16 girls, 100 freestyle, 1:01.10.

O’Neill and Jennifer Porter also claimed two second-place finishes each.

Other top finishers included Sydnie Black, 11-12 girls, one third place, two second places; Devin Brown, 13-14 boys, second, third and fourth; Megan Gee, 6-and-younger girls, two fourth places and one second; and Dan Van Niekerk, 11-12 boys, two third-place awards and one fourth.

The last meet for the Tracy Tritons will be the Mid-Valley Swim League West championships Saturday at Ripon High School.
