The United States Auto Club Western Sprint Cars will return to Altamont Motorsports Park on Saturday for a 50-lap feature race.

Saturday’s main event will include Western Sprint Cars points leaders Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg and Nick Rescino Jr. of San Francisco, who is just 14 points behind Swanson coming into Saturday’s event. Swanson won the previous event on May 17 at Altamont, and Brian McClish, 13th in the point standings, won at Altamont on April 19.

This will be the sixth race in the USAC’s Western Spring Car Series, which features 700 horsepower, 140 mph open-wheel cars on the half-mile oval. This is the third of seven series events at Altamont.

Also on Saturday the USAC will run its Western Midget Car Series, with Paul Zimmerly of Ridgefield, Wash., who won the April 19 event at Altamont, and his teammate, midget series point leader Nic Faas, in the lineup.

The USAC will also host the Ford Focus Midgets on the quarter-mile track, with series point leaders Justin Hommel and Alex Bowman included in Saturday’s race.

Other races Saturday include the Northern California Modified Association Limited Sprints and the Spectator Racing Series, which allows fans to get into a car and on the track.
