Tracy racer Ryan Philpott will tackle Sonoma's Infineon Raceway this weekend.

Tracy driver Ryan Philpott will be back in the hunt this weekend for the sixth race of the NASCAR Camping World West Series at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma.

The 2007 Altamont Motorsports Park track champion for the Whelen All-American Western Late Models moved up to the Camping World Series this year, but he didn’t finish his first two races.

The season opener at All-American Speedway in Roseville on March 29 ended for Philpott when he crashed in Lap 72 of the 153-lap race. The next week, at Phoenix International Raceway, he had to pull out in Lap 52 of the 150-lap race because of engine trouble.

As of Friday, 42 racers were on the lineup for the Bennett Lane Winery 200, which begins at 12:30 p.m.
today at the raceway, at the intersection of Highway 37 and Highway 121 near Sonoma. Time
trials will narrow down the field to 40 cars for the start of the race, which will take place on the 1.99-mile, 10-turn road course at Infineon.

Also in the lineup are Camping World West points leader Mike David of Modesto, with one win and four top-five finishes, and Eric Holmes of Escalon, with three wins.
