A local youth softball All-Star team bounced back in the final games of a Sacramento tournament to earn a spot in next month's State World Series Classic.
The girls started the weekend early Saturday morning with a 15-4 win over the Redding Rebels. The second game was a tough 7-0 loss to the Elk Grove All-Stars. The third game was a 6-1 loss tothe Sunnyvale Wicked, ranked sixth in the under-10 circuit.
With a win in the first game, the Express were in a bracket that put them up against the Redding Rebels again on Sunday. Tracy rallied for a comeback in the last inning to win 7-3 and stay in the tournament. The second game of the day was a 10-7 win in a rematch against the Elk Grove All-Stars.
That put the local team in the championship game in another rematch, this time against the Sunnyvale Wicked, which prevailed over Tracy Express, 13-1. Despite the loss, the second-place finish qualifies the Tracy Express under-10 All-Stars for the State World Series Classic in July.
