Catfight in the food court at the mall.

A girl attacked two security guards in the food court at West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road, onlookers said after they’d alerted police at 8:04 p.m. Friday. The guards pepper-sprayed the girl to fend her off, and police sent two units to the mall to control the large crowd that formed to watch the fight.

An ambulance arrived to wash spray out of the girl’s eyes. An hour later, the girl’s mom called police to say that she wanted to press charges against mall security and also against a girl, who she said had started the fight by stealing her daughter’s clothes.

The following is a sampling of the calls to police Friday:

12:54 a.m.: A 19-year-old man beat up his 24-year-old sister on the 200 block of West Lowell Avenue, the father reported. The woman refused to press charges against her brother.

1:13 a.m.: Someone driving a luxury car decked out with chrome rims cut off a motorcyclist, damaging the bike, in front of Safeway, 1801 W. 11th St.

1:23 a.m.: Two underage girls were drinking alcohol at The Great Plate, 714 Central Ave., a caller said.

1:55 a.m.: Someone burglarized a car on the 1100 block of Chaplin Way, said a caller, who moments earlier had seen the culprits “messing around” with the vehicle.

2:03 a.m.: Someone stole a 1999 Toyota Camry from the 1500 block of Lincoln Boulevard.

2:26 a.m.: Four males broke into a detached garage on the 400 block of West Whittier Avenue, said the homeowner, who heard them banging around in the shed, too.

7:13 a.m.: Some guy broke into a pickup through the sliding back window, rifled through some “personal papers” and made off with photocopied checks, the car owner said from the 200 block of East Seventh Street.

9:04 a.m.: A 20-something man with a goatee who was ranting about aliens was seen flashing women drivers from where he stood near Amberwood Way and Sycamore Parkway, a caller said.

9:12 a.m.: A 1984 Chevy Blazer was stolen from the 2500 block of Buthmann Avenue.

10:44 a.m.: A red, white and blue pickup rammed into a parked burgundy minivan outside West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road.

10:58 a.m.: Someone stole a brown Oldsmobile from the 400 block of East Ninth Street.

1:07 p.m.: Someone nabbed a set of $540 subwoofers after the deliveryman dropped off the package on a caller’s front porch on the 100 block of Loma Prieta Court.

2:39 p.m.: A man and woman were “engaged in amorous activities” in a gold-colored Suburban, a caller from the 900 block of Larkspur Drive said tactfully.

4:01 p.m.: Ambulance workers told police that a disabled woman they’d just picked up made comments about how her caregivers were physically abusing her and stealing her money. The woman lives with the caregivers on the 4700 block of English Oak Avenue, emergency responders reported.

5:40 p.m.: A woman said her neighbor’s dog broke through her fence and killed her Chihuahua on the 300 block of Violet Place.

6:07 p.m.: A banker told police that someone cashed $2,100 in forged checks at the Bank of Stockton, 1175 N. Tracy Blvd.

6:38 p.m.: Two teenagers sprayed graffiti on Stevens Park, 200 Eden Court, said a caller, who said he saw them do it.

8:14 p.m.: Someone broke into a red Chevy pickup parked in front of In Shape health club, 101 N. Tracy Blvd.

9:57 p.m.: Someone set off M-80 firecrackers near Glenbriar Circle and Samantha Court.

10:59 p.m.: Two men dressed in black hoodies stole two bottles of booze from Safeway, 1801 N. Tracy Blvd., and then fled in a 2001 Pontiac van. Security cameras caught them on tape.

• This column includes a sampling of items as reported in the Tracy Police Department dispatcher’s daily log. Additional information is based on reports from officers and other law enforcement agencies. To report information about a crime: Crime Stoppers, 831-6847.

IN SHAPE-TIME FOR A SECURITY GUARD YET?! We certainly pay you enough to protect our property while we use your facility.

I agree with Concerned Parents. We pay our dues and still no security in a lot that can now accomodate more vehicles than before. In-Shape, get in shape and hire security.

It's amazing to me after reading one of the top news stories in the press last week, that everyone is so concerned about a drowned puppy. Although the puppy story is horrible, The lead story last week was of the gang related beating, and stabbing right out on Central during the dinner hour. I witnessed the whole thing, filed a report, and have left voicemail for the detectives willing to testify against these scumbags, and they won't even return my calls. It's time to stop crying about people naked in their own house and realise the horrible things happening all around us! I can't comprehend why we can't round all of these S.O.B's up, and throw away the key. Tracy P.D. knows who every one of them are, and still do nothing!!

It isn't the police who do nothing. They arrest people and then the courts/judges let them out or the DA decides not to file if the case isn't an easy one to win. Our lovely justice system at its best. Yes, the police play cat and mouse with the criminals, knowing who they are, but the powers above them are the ones who decide to let the losers of the world to roam our streets because of easy sentences or overcrowded prisons. What a frustrating job our officers have. Criticism from the public and rearresting the same people over and over. I feel sorry for them.

I agree with you missyE. I have said that before on these blogs. The DA decides who stays and who goes. DA's, get behind the police and code enforcement and give those lesser offenders jobs like painting graffiti and picking up trash.

Underage drinking at The Great Plate. I thought the bouncers made sure no one under 21 got in. OOPS. What kind of fine is that I wonder.
