The Tracy Babe Ruth 9-10 Phillies claimed their league title today with a 10-3 win over the rival White Sox.

The Phillies beat the White Sox in Friday’s semi-final game, and the White Sox had to beat the Giants this morning to get into the championship game.

The game ends the season for the division, with the 11-12 players going into the last games of their championship tournament next weekend.

The next stop is the Babe Ruth All-Star game, with coaches “Papa” Joe Saenz coaching the National team and Chris Lewis coaching the American all-stars. Those games will be played the weekend after next.

Saenz, the Phillies head coach, said his team got a good pitching performance from starter Jacob Serrato and also got outstanding play from Chandlyr Metal. The Phillies went undefeated in the tournament after a season where they took first place in the division standings.

Coach George Correia of the White Sox said it was an emotional end to the season, where the White Sox went 12-2 in the regular season, their only losses being to the Phillies.

“We have a young team but we kicked butt,” he said, adding that Alex Camarillo and Tucker Morris each turned in another good performance. “The boy’s did really good. I’m proud of them. Twelve-and-two is very good in this league.”
