Too much mud, not enough leadership Print E-mail

'This presidential race isn’t about Hillary or Obama, Democrats or Republicans. It’s about our country’s destiny and the destiny of our children and grandchildren.'

In all my 72 years, I have never seen a presidential election such as this. The mud-slinging, the attacks on candidates’ personal lives, the preaching and spouting of racist remarks and hateful language against this country and the candidates are uncalled for.

This kind of behavior is wrong, plain and simple. It’s time to quit living and dwelling in the past with hatred and racial prejudices (from both black and white) and move forward into the future.

My wife and I have watched almost all of the Democratic and Republican debates on TV. I’m voting for the person with experience who can pull this country out of the quagmire and make people proud of their country (maybe for the first time in their adult lives) and not tear it down, as some turncoats have been doing.

You might love Hillary Clinton, or you might hate her, but I have to give her credit. She could have packed up and gone home, as the Democrats wanted her to, before all the delegates were counted. Against all odds, she’s stayed in the race to the bitter end. She’s a fighter who has outlasted all of the other candidates who have dropped out and fallen by the wayside. She stood her ground alone to face Barack Obama and John McCain.

Obama has been referred to as another John F. Kennedy, as Moses to lead his people out of bondage, as the Messiah. He is none of these. There is only one Messiah, and that is Jesus Christ.

Sure, our country is in trouble right now with more than $4-a-gallon gasoline at the pump (as much as $7 a gallon in the near future), the devaluation of the dollar, the sagging economy, home foreclosures and war in Iraq. If something is not done soon, this country will go to hell in a handbasket. We have to elect a leader and fighter to pull us out of this mess.

Whatever the outcome, this presidential race isn’t about Hillary or Obama, Democrats or Republicans. It’s about our country’s destiny and the destiny of our children and grandchildren. We need to put a candidate in the White House who will put this country back on its feet again. This country didn’t get to be great by Americans sitting on their laurels.

Remember the American soldiers who fought and paid the ultimate price for us. Don’t let them down so they have died in vain, just because some disillusioned politicians don’t have the foresight and backbone to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, roll up their sleeves and go to work to set this country back on the right track.

THAT sentiment was echoed by many elderly patients that came our way,

"In all my 72 years, I have never seen a presidential election such as this. The mud-slinging, the attacks on candidates’ personal lives, the preaching and spouting of racist remarks and hateful language....."

What kind of candidates are we showing the World? Would they wonder and trust our choice? Should be an interesting election year, that is for sure!

Have a good rest of the day. -amy

Left you a comment in another section. Since this is a newer article and I see you have commented here I will also provide you some information you have asked for, Mike Maciel's website.

http://www.macielfortracycouncil.org/

Have a good read and I hope you are favorably impressed.

I have known Mike for many years and feel he is a good choice for a Council seat. But that's an endorsement isn't it. smilies/wink.gif

I'll leave it to you to make your own decisions.

Have fun

When Gore lost to Bush, the democrats squawked that Gore won the popular vote( by A Few Thousand?) and Bush won the electoral

Now Hillary has the popular vote and the leftist media sniffs it's nose and says Obama has the "delegates"

I always remebered what my grandfather said, "desperate people will do desperate things". This is how i view this election process. Because i do not support any of them, I lean towards one particular candadate. I can not go with out saying Obama is the apple to many desperate peoples eyes who will be doing a mercy vote out of desperation from their own liberal and racial beliefs. Some are also thinking that this situation we are now in is all Bush and cheneys fault, period. This is a desperate swing to the radical left and a over-correction to where we were or are this moment in time. But the desperados do not want to hear it. When they find that Obama isn't what he all what he says he is those who voted for him will not care anyway because this country will be so screwed up, maybe more than what they have been saying it is right now. The gas prices and housing crises does not have democrat or republican tatooed on it. The war wasn't started by Bush, he inhereted this war by no choice of his. But people still want to go over-the-top and say everything is his fault. I am not defending Bush either. We do not have much to choose from, and don't buy into this will be Bush's 3rd term if McCain gets in. There is a lot more on the back agendas with Obama and he is playing on everybodys sad story by telling them what they want to hear. There is also 'supposedly' another tape surfacing of michelle obama shouting racial rants in Trinity. Maybe this is why Hillary has only suspended her run for office and not pulled the plug completely. The things that make you go hummmm.

It sounded like an explicit endorsement for Hillary and an attack on Obama. However, the implicit overtones deafeningly scream resoundingly louder, to the reader, "VOTE FOR McCAIN!". As I understand, a lot of the "more experienced" generation, who would have voted for Hillary, are now rearranging their "chads". McCain will be the only clear benefactor of Hillary's loss. The explanation the experienced voters are giving is that Obama's "change" scares the HECK outta people's handbaskets. Change? Is that really what the author was implying? And speaking of experience. Where's Tom Benigno when you need him. Give the people the information they need. Just hope he gets his chance to debate McCain and Obama this time.

Hope this helps Tom! Let me know if you need help with the website.
