Wolf Pack trio named to TCAL first team

First-team pitcher for the league is West junior Ryan Devencenzi, whose 4-1 win-loss record was the best in league play this year. He led the league in strikeouts, with 35 over 29 innings, and had a 2.172 earned-run average. Devencenzi also logged a 9-2 record over 26 overall games this season, the best record of any TCAL pitcher this year.

Senior Josh Thomassen is on the first-team infield, after a year spent at shortstop and second base while leading his team in batting. He hit .516 during TCAL play with 16 hits over nine games.

He tied for third among TCAL players for overall base hits with 34, batting .382 over 24 games.

Junior Matt Fontaine was named to the first team as a utility player. Fontaine shared pitching duties with Devencenzi and went 2-1 in league with one save. He posted a 5-2 record for the overall season. He also played third base and had a .429 batting average in league play with 12 base hits, and he batted .364 for the season.

Second-team players include senior catcher Mike Wentz, who collected 12 base hits in nine TCAL games while batting .400; senior center fielder Anthony Salsedo batted .313 in TCAL play with 10 base hits, including four doubles; junior Riley Goulding, played second base, shortstop and pitcher, batted .360, and recorded two wins and a 2.188 ERA in league play; junior infielder Tyler Shepherd played first base, batted .310 in league and had nine base hits.
