Leading the list is the SJAA Most Valuable Player Nikki Moreno. The Bulldog catcher hit eight home runs in 10 league games and 12 for the overall season. Nobody else in the league came close to matching her power. Moreno tied for 10th in the state in total home runs for the season and was in the top 20 in the country, according to statistics on MaxPreps.com.
Moreno’s batting average of .613 in league topped the SJAA, and she batted .494 for the entire season with 41 base hits. She also led the league with 20 RBIs and 38 overall.
The first-team pitcher is Tracy junior Morgan Hayes, who had a 0.33 earned-run average during league play. Hayes pitched all of Tracy’s games and had a 17-9 record with 10 shutouts and three no-hitters. She threw 169 strikeouts in 168.2 innings and had an overall ERA of 0.996.
Also named to the first team was senior third baseman Katie Stutz. She started in all 26 Bulldog games and batted .253 with 20 base hits, including eight doubles and 13 RBIs. Senior outfielder Melissa Turney is also a first teamer, with a .354 batting average, 23 hits and 13 RBIs. Senior outfielder Samantha Fisher was named to the second-team outfield, and honorable mentions include senior outfielder Eleni Leles, junior infielder Stephanie Leles and junior infielder Sara Amorello.
